It was in Portland, OR when I first had this drink. I have no idea was the bartender there called the drink, but I remember the the basic ingredient list consisting of ginger, lemon, honey, and bourbon. I was at a bar called the Multomah Whiskey Library; which anyone who knows me knows that I wouldn't pass up trying. Just walking into the place I was taken aback at the number of liquors adorning the wall; specifically the bourbon and the whiskey.
I had a number of drinks while I was there, but the drink that has inspired this recipe is the one that I can remember the taste of to this day.
The only effort in this recipe comes from making the syrups. I was at first intimidated by the idea of making my own syrup, but as I have now learned how simple it really is I'll be doing much more of it. For this recipe all you'll need is honey, whole ginger, and some sugar. That at and couple pots of water and you've got two delicious syrups that you can use for more than just this cocktail.

- Add bourbon, honey syrup, ginger syrup, and lemon juice to a cocktail chaser with ice.
