I drink a lot of bourbon and whiskey. Being from northern Alabama I have been around bourbon and whiskey my entire life. My childhood home is a mere hour or so away from Lynchburg, TN where Jack Daniels is distilled. Mind you Jack Daniels is not a bourbon; it's a whiskey.
More often than not I used Bulleit or Makers Mark as my bourbon for this cocktail. I keep a bottle of each in the house at all times so it really depends on which one I have enough of... Or if all has failed I've mixed bourbons to get enough haha.
For those who don't like bourbon I challenge you to try this recipe out. I have the upmost faith that you will enjoy the bourbon lemonade. If you're very much against bourbon you could swap it out for whiskey or rum; or other liquor of your choosing.

Ingredients
- 6 oz fresh raspberries
- 6 oz fresh blackberries
- ½ cup sugar
- 2 tablespoon water (If necessary)
- 1 cup bourbon
- 1 cup lemon juice (Freshly squeezed if possible)
- Sprigs of thyme, for garnishing
Instructions
- Combine rasperries, blackberries, and sugar in a saucepan over medium heat and cook down into a syrup. If you feel that the syrup may begin to burn add up to 2 tablespoon of water to thin the syrup.
- Once the syrup has thickened pour it through a fine strainer and allow it to cool.
- Once syrup has cooled combine it with the bourbon, and lemon juice and stir well to combine all the ingredients.
- I find that allowing the Bourbon Lemonade to rest in the fridge for a few hours to overnight makes it taste much better.
- Serve Mixed Berry Bourbon Lemonade over ice garnish with a couple sprigs of thyme.
