Fresh Hibiscus Tea Anyone?

I had the pleasure of taste testing some hibiscus tea from a black owned tea company based out of Baton Rouge, LA.  I won't lie and say that I am a huge fan of tea, and understand all the nuances of what makes a tea good or bad.  Honestly, many of you reading this are likely more well qualified to give review on tea than I am.  I hope that y'all won't judge my amateur thoughts or opinions on the subject of tea too critically, and rather you appreciate my review of Fresh Hibiscus Tea as much as I enjoyed the tea itself.

From their website:

I am a Louisiana State University alumni and the Founder of Fresh Hibiscus Tea. I am a tea lover and I aspire to share my love for tea with you. Growing up as a little girl in Nigeria, drinking hibiscus tea was common for families to drink on special days or at the dinner table. When I moved to the states in 2009, I noticed that this particular tea was not easily accessible. For years I longed for Hibiscus Tea. I tried many versions in the market but none brought the sense of quality or taste that I had once known. Finally, in the summer of 2017, I started Fresh Hibiscus Tea. To me, Fresh Hibiscus Tea is not only a refreshing drink that brings people together but also a special tea that holds many health benefits

I had not heard about Fresh Hibiscus Tea when the founder Firdaws, a Louisiana State University graduate, reached out to me and told me about the company.  All she had to say was hibiscus and I was immediately intrigued.  I don't believe that I have ever had anything with hibiscus in it and it tasted bad, mind you most of those concoctions have been cocktails.  I was very interested the hibiscus tea, and much to my happiness a couple bottles happened to show up at my house a week or so later.

Fresh Hibiscus Tea makes three different flavors of tea; two of which I had the chance to taste, Pineapple Adventure and Ginger Pleasure.  From my own assumptions I thought I'd like the Ginger better than the Pineapple.  I was surprised though after tasting both of the teas:

Pineapple Adventure

The Pineapple Adventure hibiscus tea had a very full and bold flavor.  It was not sweet as if a bunch of sugar had been added, but rather had a more natural sweetness which I assume is from the pineapple.  I could drink it by the pitcher on a hot Summer day.  Who knows, maybe even drop a bit of rum or tequila in there if I'm in the mood haha.

Ginger Pleasure

The Ginger Pleasure hibiscus tea was I would call a sipping bourbon if I was reviewing a bourbon or a whiskey.  It had a more mild flavor than the other tea that I tried.  Do not be concerned by ginger in the name of the tea if you are not a big ginger fan.  The ginger flavor is very subtle, but it does give you a light spicy note on the back end which I enjoy.

As always thank you for taking a few moments out of your day to read my blog. I hope that you head over to Fresh Hibiscus Tea's website, and get some for yourself.  I can assure you that you will not be disappointed.

Thank you,

Ben22
